The Fundamentals of Painting and Drawing (Semester)

In this drawing and painting class, educator and artist, Brooke David, introduces children to the basic concepts of drawing and painting, allowing them to explore creativity, develop fine motor skills, and build confidence in their artistic abilities.
The curriculum emphasizes fun, exploration, and self-expression through simple techniques and learning to see like an artist while highlighting diverse and inspiring artists who may not be as widely known but have made significant contributions to the art world.
Each session combines learning about these artists with art projects inspired by their styles. Hands-on activities will follow, allowing students to create artwork inspired by their learning.
Learn about drawing tools, basic shapes, collage, types of lines, drawing with detail, shadow and light, color mixing, observation, painting with brushes, and more!
$55 per class - 8 Week Semester
No prior art experience required.

About the Instructor
Brooke David is an experienced artist and educator passionate about teaching art. She studied painting and art history at The Florence Academy and The National Academy of Art, focusing on Classic Realism and Contemporary Art History. She holds a BFA from FIT and studied graphic design at SVA. Brooke has taught at Girls Write Now, Radford College, and Togetherhood. As a parent of two, she has seen firsthand how introducing children to
diverse art practices sparks creativity, imagination, and confidence.
